Barake Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2, 2026

Barake helps a family organize everyday chores: a parent creates chores, kids complete them, and the points they earn are traded for rewards the parent sets.

Children use this app. We designed data collection to stay minimal, and we do not sell data to anyone, ever.

1. Who is responsible for your data

Orizon42, a French limited liability company (SARL) registered under SIREN 989 845 896, with its registered office at 200 rue de la Croix Nivert, 75015 Paris, France.

2. What we collect

From the parent who creates the account

  • Email address — to identify you, confirm your account, and let you reset your password.
  • First name — for display inside the app.
  • Password — stored as a one-way hash. We never have access to it.

From the child

  • A first name, entered by the parent or by the child when joining the family.

That is all. We do not ask a child for an email address, a date of birth, a phone number, or any information that would let anyone contact them outside the app.

From your use of the app

  • Chores created, their status and history.
  • Points earned and spent.
  • Rewards defined and redemptions requested.
  • Proof photos, when a chore requires one.
  • A device token for notifications, if you enable them.

What we do not collect

No location data. No contacts. No advertising identifiers. No behavioral tracking for targeting. No microphone access, and no camera access beyond the photo you take yourself.

3. Children's privacy — COPPA

Barake is designed so that a child's account cannot exist on its own. A parent creates the family and shares a code; the child joins with that code. Creating the family account constitutes the parent's consent to the collection of the limited information described above.

We collect from children only what is reasonably necessary to take part in the app — a first name, their chores, and their points. We never condition a child's participation on disclosing more than that.

As a parent, you may at any time:

  • review the information associated with your child,
  • correct it,
  • remove the child from the family,
  • delete the family account entirely, which erases the child's data.

These actions are available in the app, under Profile. You may also reach us through the contact page on our website, and we will act within 30 days.

We do not disclose children's information to third parties for advertising, and we display no third-party advertising in the app.

4. Photos

Proof photos are stored in a private space accessible only to members of your family. They are not public, not indexed, and not analyzed.

They are automatically deleted 60 days after the chore is approved. These are often photos of children: keeping them past their usefulness would be a liability, not a feature.

5. Why we process this data

Purpose Legal basis (GDPR)
Provide the service (account, chores, points) Performance of a contract
Send confirmation and security emails Performance of a contract
Children's data Parental consent, given at account creation
Push notifications Your consent, revocable at any time
Manage subscriptions Performance of a contract
Prevent abuse and secure accounts Legitimate interest

6. Who else sees this data

We rely on a small number of processors, each for a specific role:

Provider Role Hosting
Supabase Database, authentication, storage European Union
Resend Transactional email delivery United States
RevenueCat Subscription management United States
Apple / Google Payment processing, notifications United States
Expo Push notification delivery United States

These providers act on our instructions and may not use your data for their own purposes.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

7. How long we keep it

  • Account and family data: as long as the account exists.
  • Proof photos: 60 days after the chore is approved.
  • After account deletion: erased within 30 days, except what the law requires us to retain (billing records).

8. Your rights

If you are in the United States

Depending on your state — California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and others grant comparable rights — you may request access to your personal information, its correction, its deletion, and a portable copy. You may also opt out of sale or sharing; we do neither, so there is nothing to opt out of. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your data, and to object to processing. You may lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

Account deletion is available directly in the app, under Profile. For anything else, reach us through the contact page on our website. We respond within 30 days.

9. International transfers

Our database is hosted in the European Union. Some providers listed above operate from the United States. Transfers out of the EU are covered by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

10. Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit. Data is isolated per family at the database level itself — one family cannot technically read another's data. Passwords are hashed. Photo storage is private and reachable only through short-lived links.

No system is perfect. If a breach occurs that presents a risk to your rights, we will notify you and the relevant authority within the legally required time.

11. Changes

If we change this policy materially, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect.

12. The terms that go with this policy

Your use of Barake is also governed by our Terms of Service.
